Volcano Village Estates strives to ensure that its services are accessible to people with disabilities. Volcano Village Estates has invested a significant amount of resources to help ensure that its website is made easier to use and more accessible for people with disabilities, with the strong belief that every person has the right to live with dignity, equality, comfort and independence.

VolcanoVillageEstates.com makes available the UserWay Website Accessibility Widget that is powered by a dedicated accessibility server. The software allows VolcanoVillageEstates.com to improve its compliance with the Web Content Accessibility Guidelines (WCAG 2.1).

Improvements we have made and continue to make to website make it accessible for impaired users as per the World Wide Web Consortium’s Web Content Accessibility Guidelines 2.0 Level AA (WCAG 2.0 AA). We test the site with various tools such as Wave (https://wave.webaim.org/). We will continue to make every effort to meet evolving accessibility standards.

Room details and amenities for guests with disabilities:

Onomea Falls (accessible): this cottage has a queen size bed small sitting area and is handicapped accessible with parking at the door. The entrance into the room is flat. The doors are wide enough to accommodate a wheelchair and the bathroom has grab bars for the shower and the toilet. Be aware there is a small lip to step over for the shower.

Nanue Falls: This room has a queen size bed and a small sitting area. The bathroom has a flat entrance with no step. The walk-in shower has a small lip to step over. Access to the room is up two small steps onto a walk way.

Rainbow Falls: this cottage has a queen size bed and small sitting area with two chairs. It is accessed by a small deck into the room and has a step up onto the deck. Once inside the room there are no further steps and the bathroom has a walk-in shower. This room is accessed along a footpath that is flat with gravel.

Umauma Falls: cottage has a flat entry. The room has no steps once inside and the bathroom has a walk-in shower with a lip to step over to access the shower. The cottages access along a foot path that is flat with gravel.

Akaka Falls: this cottage is a two-story cottage with the kitchen on the ground floor the living room and bedrooms around the third story and the bathroom is on the second floor. The bathroom has a bathtub and shower combination with a pedestal sink. This cottage is a two-story cottage with the kitchen on the ground floor, the living room and bedrooms on the third

floor and a bathroom on the second floor. The bathroom has a bathtub and shower, and a pedestal sink. This is not recommended for guests with mobility restrictions.

Pineapple Ohana: this cottage has four steps up to the lanai (porch) to enter the front door. The bedroom is in a lower level and requires you to walk down a steep narrow staircase to access the bed. The bathroom has a separate walk-in shower and Jacuzzi bath. This room is not recommended for guests with mobility with mobility restrictions.

Poliahu, Hina, Papa, Laka, and Pele: the five bungalows on the property are accessed by a flat walk-way that comes off of the parking area and is accessed up five steps. Once on the alk-walk all rooms are accessible along a flat walkway and landing area. Room entry has no step and the showers are all walk-in with a small lip to access. Pele has additional steps up to the main bedroom and bathroom inside the room.

Garden Suite & Junior Suite: both the Garden Suite and the Junior Suite are accessible through the front door of the Dillingham house which has three steps up to the entrance. Once inside the house access to the Garden Suite and the bedroom and bathroom is one level. The Garden Suite has a step-in shower with a small lip to step over and a separate soaking bathtub. Junior Suite has a walk-in shower with a small lip to step over.

The main lobby/reception area is accessed via three steps at the front door. The path from the parking area to the ramp is gravel and is wide enough for a wheelchair. We greet guests in the parking area for check-in so you do not need to enter the lobby or reception for check-in.

Dining

All dining is in room and each room has a tray for breakfast. Akaka Falls has a separate kitchen and eating area on the first floor.

Public Restrooms

Due to the historic nature and size of the property, we do not offer a public restroom in any of the check in areas, common spaces or business center.

Parking

There is a parking space close to the path for the room that is accessible. The parking area is flat and can easily accommodate a van.

ADA Signage

There are no braille signs anywhere at the property.
